In this week’s blog post, I will be discussing my inspiration for writing a clarinet quartet arrangement of the first movement “Adagio-Allegro” from Felix Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 8. Although Mendelssohn wrote this piece at only age 13, it already demonstrates his unique compositional style, blending Baroque and Classical influences.

Here are some thoughts on my newest arrangement for Craig Music Publishers: a clarinet quartet medley that transforms the traditional French carol “Patapan” into an imaginative “Patapan Fantasy,” incorporating five additional Christmas favorites.
