This intermediate clarinet quartet digital download medley transforms the traditional French carol "Patapan" into an imaginative "Patapan Fantasy," incorporating beloved Christmas songs like "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen," "Joy to the World," "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," "We Three Kings of Orient Are," and "Good King Wenceslas," representing holiday music from the Czech Republic, England, France, and the United States. It is perfect for all holiday events, gatherings, recitals, or caroling gigs.
The arrangement was written for most ensembles, from advanced high school quartets to college ensembles to professional quartets. What appealed to me most about this piece was that it's pitched in a minor key, making it slightly different from most Christmas carols. The lyrics are similar to "The Little Drummer Boy": "When you hear the fife and drum, dance and make the village hum." Originally scored for piano, I hope you enjoy this unique setting for clarinets, which can bring a taste of Europe to your holiday celebrations.

“I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this [Patapan Fantasy] medley! As a woodwind musician, I have found it hard to find Christmas music that is creative, yet stays true to its character. It seems that most medleys are simply the standard version of a few carols, all lumped together in jarring key changes, and frankly, boring. Mark's version here is an excellent example of how taking a fresh look at the music, yet striving for authenticity, really pays off!”
