Bizet: Habanera, from the opera Carmen - for Clarinet Choir
ISMN# 979-0-3071-0003-9
ASCAP WORK ID# 934131683
Here is an intermediate clarinet choir arrangement by Mark A. Craig / Craig Music Publishers of Georges Bizet's "Habanera" from his opera Carmen. This transcription of a Romantic Era work is perfect for recitals, contests/competitions, weddings, graduations, special events, background dinner music gigs, and educational outreach performances. The arrangement can be played by advanced high school, college, and professional ensembles. I have included alternate Bb clarinet parts in lieu of a missing Eb clarinet or Alto clarinet. This movement features a hypnotic, slow, dotted rhythm, based on a Cuban dance, with a descending chromatic melody. This popular, free-spirited movement is sure to be a hit with your audiences.
This movement is part of a five-part suite I wrote for clarinet choir, based on Bizet’s opera Carmen. To learn more about my inspiration for writing these five arrangements, click here to read my CMP Blog Post.
The other four movements from my five-movement suite “Selections from Carmen,” "Seguidilla," "Danse Bohème," "Habanera," or "March of the Toreadors," are available to purchase separately here in my Shop.
However, if you buy the entire suite, Selections from Carmen, which includes all five movements, you save 40% off the total cost.
