Mendelssohn: Adagio-Allegro (Mvmt I), from String Symphony No. 8 - for Woodwind Quintet

This woodwind quintet arrangement of Felix Mendelssohn's "Adagio-Allegro (Mvmt I)" from his String Symphony No. 8 is a challenging piece. This movement features a beautiful, mysterious opening section that segues into a lively and spirited section full of dynamic contrast and fiery technical passages. It was written for professional and college ensembles and is perfect for recitals, weddings, graduation ceremonies, and background dinner music gigs. I have included an alternate bass clarinet part in lieu of a missing bassoon; the bass clarinet works quite well as a substitute for the bassoon.
